Youth Radio Tells the World What's Going On...Now

Skylar Bryant, Brandon McFarland, Evan Childress and Rayana Godfrey in DC for The Kennedy Center's  commemoration of Marvin Gaye's 1972 performance of What's Going On.

Last week on NPR's All Things Considered, Youth Radio's Brandon McFarland told the story of his experience as a young musician given privileged access to Marvin Gaye's original studio recordings of his iconic album What's Going On. With a team of young artists at Youth Radio, McFarland worked with Gaye's original tracks to produce a modern-day remix of "What's Going On."

McFarland traveled to Washington, DC, with Youth Radio's Skylar Bryant, Evan Childress and Rayana Godfrey to witness the Kennedy Center's live commemoration of the 1972 concert that showcased What's Going On. While in DC, they participated in the What's Going On Now Youth Summit, which highlighted the work of youth media makers from around the country responding to Gaye's historic album.
